The new cooperatives
Production and business organization in cooperatives have been running efficiently for years in Latin America.
In our journey we well document on the following case studies:
Industrial cooperatives - Argentina
During the economic crisis of 2001 laid out workers decided, in a collective initiative, to run their hitherto bankrupt companies. 200 of the so called "recuperated factories" are managed by 15000 workers, based on shared decision making, pragmatism and quite free of ideological burdens.
Farm cooperatives - Brazil
Small farm cooperatives represent 25% of Brazil´s agricultural output. In the last five years many of these cooperatives obtained government support and gained access to financial credit.
Recycling cooperatives - Colombia
Urban waste material in Colombia is mostly recycled by well organized cooperatives, such as the Cooperativa Re-cuperar from Medellín.
