The rural schools
The inhabitants of rural areas in Latin America still account for an important proportion of the overall population, reaching as much as 40% in some countries of Central America.
The increasing importance of agricultural output, set up to match a higher worldwide demand for food, has reduced urban migration in recent years. It is within this context that the educational infrastructure in rural areas becomes increasingly important.
Departing from the experience gathered with the project "Escuelita 307" in Tucumán, Argentina, we will visit and compare the situation of rural schools in Bolivia, Perú, Ecuador y México.
Among the relevant points for documentation there are:
- The socio-economic environment of school children
- The educational quality
- Equal opportunity assessment
- The social integration role of rural schools
